Explore the next step in your nursing career with Melior PBS!

If you are a nurse who has worked with children, young people or adults with intellectual disability, developmental disability, neurological conditions or emotional and behavioural needs, you already understand complexity, communication, risk, dignity and care. You have seen how behaviour can be a way of communicating unmet needs, pain, distress, trauma or frustration.

Nursing can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be demanding. Shift work, high-pressure environments, competing priorities and the emotional load of caring for others can leave many experienced nurses wondering what else they could do with their skills.

You look beyond symptoms to understand people. Positive Behaviour Support takes that same skill and applies it in a new way. The difference is what comes next: in nursing you often have minutes, and in PBS you have time to find out why and follow it through.

PBS starts from something you already know: behaviour is communication. When someone does not have the words, skills or tools to say what they need, the need shows up another way. PBS is the work of understanding why, changing what is around the person rather than the person, and teaching the skills that meet that need another way.
It is a discipline, not a knack: backed by international research and practised in group homes, schools, workplaces, family homes and the community. Register for our information session to find out how your nursing experience could translate.

We’re looking for people who are curious, creative and people-first; people who enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively and finding practical ways to support positive change.

Come along to learn:

  • What a PBS Practitioner actually does day-to-day
  • How your experience would transfer to the role
  • What makes Melior’s people-first culture special
  • The comprehensive induction, training, and supervision we provide

You’ll also hear from our Co-Managing Directors, our current PBS Practitioners and People & Culture team, with time for questions over refreshments. If you’d like to, you can also have an informal chat with us about future opportunities..

This is not an invitation to apply for a job today. It is an invitation to explore whether PBS could be a meaningful next step for you.
